Biography: As a young man, he had been on whaling ships (in the 1950s). Then he was with MacBraynes on the ‘Columba’ which ran between Oban and the Isle of Mull. After coming to Applecross he worked at the Howard Doris oil rig construction yard; later he worked RMA boats.He was on the same boat as his son Neil at one point.. He was married to Mairi MacRae who was originally from Camusterrach.
