Biography:

Duncan MacLeod was a member f what was termed ‘Scart’s Navy’- the merchant crews placed on boats by Murdo MacRae, Kyle of Lochalsh, who was a shipping agent. Duncan was a cook (possibly) on the ‘Empire Diplomat’ during World War II. He was subsequently with MacBraynes for a number of years on inter-island ferries. He joined the ‘Loch Toscaig’ when she came into service between Toscaig and Kyle of Lochalsh in 1956. After leaving MacBraynes, he looked after his elderly parents. Everybody knew him as Tarzan.
