Biography: This stone was unearthed when a grave was being dug for someone else; rather than reburying or discarding it, it was re-erected in the north-east corner, which was not used so much. Looking from the back of the stone, there was an inscription “RMK 1750” on the top edge – it is no longer visible. The ‘RMK’ suggests it may have been one of the MacKenzies of Applecross – speculation suggests possibly Roderick MacKenzie IV of Applecross, who repurchased Applecross Estate in 1724 after it had been forfeited following teh Jacobite Uprising of 1715.
