Biography:

Fisherman and crofter. Another brother, Angus, died 16th October 1950 in Culduie and is buried here with them but is not on commemorated on the stone, supposedly because his brothers disapproved of the fact that he had married a Mull woman who taught Highland dancing – an activity the very religious brothers frowned upon. This family had connections with Uist and so were known as “Na h-Uibhistich”. Roderick MacIntosh was interviewed by a Fisheries Survey in the 1930s giving information about ground nets and herring fishing, and complaining about illegal trawling.
