Biography:

Duncan was at sea. He was in San Francisco at the time of the 1903 earthquake in that city. He claimed when he returned to Applecross that the deathtoll in that disaster was far higher than the authorities were prepared to admit. Subsequently, his suspicions were proven to be correct.
