Biography:

Information from Highland Council’s Register of Interments, which commenced in 1927. The lair owner at his time of death is recorded as being his wife Margaret MacCallum. He belonged to Campbeltown and was at sea for some time. His wife was Margaret MacDonald, known as Magaidh Ruadh, from Kenmore, grand-aunt of Mary Gillanders of Arrina. Magaidh Ruadh’s father was a brother of the Ministear Mòr, Reverend Kenneth MacDonald, Camusterrach. She had another brother Iain Dubh (Mary Gillanders’grand-father); another broher John, a medical student, ran from Kenmore to Milltown to catch the mail steamer ‘Sheila’, but died after bursting a blood vessel.. They came to Camusterrach in the very early 1940s and lived in what is now called Pier Cottage.
