Biography: Hector lived in Glasgow, where he was a dentist, but spent a lot of his time at his house in Toscaig, which allowed him to look after his sheep and his croft. He died in May 1994. Hector’s father was the famous minister Reverend Kenneth Gillies (‘Gillies of Partick’).
