Biography: A crofter, he is listed as Donald Gillies Junior in the Highland Council’s Register of Interments. Father of the late Angus Gillies, Camusteel (buried in Section IV). Dolachan was reputed to have been an incredibly strong man; he dropped dead after carrying home a barrel of treacle. Dolachan’s grandfather Donald Gillies, a man of legendary strength in these parts, who was so small as a baby that he was put in a cotton wool box when he was born.
