Biography: Duncan MacRae drowned on his way home from Plockton after collecting whisky for his own wedding. Along with him were Kenny Livingstone and John Gollan. Seòc Eilidh (John MacLennan, Camusteel) stayed behind in Plockton because he thought it was too windy and avoided the tragedy. He was taken from Plockton to Airigh Drishaig the next day and walked home from there to Camusteel They found the Bachall Beag’s body and the barrel of whisky – which was used for his funeral instead of his wedding.. He had been due to marry a lady from Fearnabeag, a sister of the wife of John MacKenzie, ‘MacCoinnich’ – she eventually married Alexander MacLennan, Fearnamore – their son was Duncan MacLennan, DCM. The Bachall Beag had several brothers including Peter MacRae who also drowned in the Linne Aillseach (the area between Loch Kishorn, Kyle, Broadford and Crowlin; and John MacRae, who is also believed to have drowned.
