Biography: Elizabeth Martin, known in the Applecross community as Betty Guinea, was a very popular figure. She was born in Greenock in 1924. Her father was a brother of Kenny Martin, Ardubh; and her granny was a MacLeod that came to Applecross from the Isle of Harris. She came to Ardubh to look after her grandmother, and then married John MacBeath (The Guinea) who was living in Ardubh at the time. After she married, she and her husband lived in Lower Toscaig (the house still owned by the Littler family) and then moved to Camusteel.
