Biography:

She was a housekeeper to John Alec Matheson, who joined him after his wife had died. John Alec’s brother was the bank manager in Dornie at one time. The ‘Isa’ transported her remains home from Kyle of Lochalsh. According to the Highland Council’s register of interments, the lair owner when she died was her brother John F. MacRae, resident in Kyle of Lochalsh. John F was a fisherman in Cuaig before he moved to Kyle, and began working on the pier for either MacBraynes or the railways. He died in his 90s and is buried in Kirkton, Balmacara. Kate’s funeral was held on a terrible day.
