Biography: Elizabeth was a sister of Mary Murchison and Finlay Murchison (Fionnlagh Uilleim, sometimes known as Fionnlagh a’ Chladaich, or even Fionnlagh Uilleim a’ Chladaich – because the house in Lower Toscaig was right beside the shore) – a different Murchison family from her husband’s. According the the Ross-shire Journal 9 January 1880: •”Marriage – at Drummonds Temeprance Hotel, Glassport St, Glasgow, on the 1st inst. By the Rev Kenneth MacDonald, Applecross, assisted by Rev Ewan Gordon of Main St Free Church, Glasgow, Duncan Murchison, merchant, to Elizabeth, youngest daughter of William Murchison, both of Applecross.” Kenneth MacDonald was known as Am Ministear Mòr (The Big Minister). It should be noted that there is a two-year discrepancy between what is recorded on the stone as her dates (died 1939) and the Highland Council’s Register of Interments (1937).
